We are about to start building our stand for our 275g acrylic tank. Now I know the floor where the tank is going is not level. It's concrete underneath laminate wood flooring. It's probably about 2-5 degrees off. Should I build the tank like normal and then shimmy it or build the stand slightly off.

You can go either way. When I built the stand for my 40 breeders, I accounted for a dip on one corner and I did the same on my sister's in-wall tank. On other builds, I just built the stand and shimmed it from there.

Overall, it is easier to shim the stand after it is already built. You don't have to worry about getting it exactly right.

Hello; Perhaps building the stand as true as possible will be best. That way if you decide to move it to a different position it may be easier to do. At any rate it is likely that some shimming will be necessary even if you try to build it for one spot.

I buy one piece of 2"x6" and slice it into small 1/4" or so shims. I try and vary the shims in thickness so I have options. I would build the stand then shim it (I have moved location of many tanks and would not want to have to rebuild the stand each time) I have my 300 gallon shimmed this way and it works great/cheap.
