At The Antipodes
Hello all! over the years, I've owned several channa & a couple parachanna sp. I'm familiar with sh.org. also. My question is why is it, that the Ch.Marulia, Ch.Maruliodes, Ch.Barca, and Ch.Aurantimac.sp. all get the moniker of being called snakeheads? I've never heard of any other sh. sp. giv'en this title.... please, anyone explain:popcorn:

Hey bro sorry to burst your bubble of thought but their illegal in Cali. I would have one also a few others if they weren't illegal but so for now I don't own any =( your going to get this same answer from us that being its illegal even most of the states in the country have a banned notice of Snakeheads being illegal. But on the other hand to your question you should wait for someone who does keep them to answer it...ive never kept one and never will until the banned is lifted if ever...

:chillpill:I failed to mention, that during the time my keeping snakeheads, i resided in the state of virginia, richmond, chesterfield co. I lived there from 01-03. And was fortunate enough to own several sh. sp. And when the ban was ordered, I promptly went and traded all of my sh.ds' as much as it hurted.... I'm full aware of the many banned fish & fauna, in my home state of Ca.!

iam not sure if i understand the question fully , but if you mean micro get title of giant snakehead , marulia - bullseye or cobra snakehead and aruanti = golden cobra snakehead , then i would say that most of them have the commen name of snakehead off top of head

channa argus = northern snakehead
channa asiatica = Chinese Snakehead
channa bankanensis = Bangka Snakehead
Channa bleheri = rainbow snakehead
Channa burmanica = Burmese Snakehead
Channa cyanospilos = Bluespotted Snakehead ect ect ect

to be honest i really hate all these commen name , they just lead to confusion and exporters makeing up new fantasy name so they can charge more .

of course if this is what not you mean , please explain again , as iam feeling a bit light headed tonight , so could of got totally wrong

cheers col

Tropheus, in all honesty, your post is the only post in this thread thus far that has made a bit of sense! For the past two days I have been trying to figure out what the OP has been saying.

I think what he means is that moniker means true snake like body long and slender? Thats about all i think of

I thought I was the only one struggling with this one. Ha!

What I was trying to ask, was why are certain sh. sp. called cobra, and others are not? I've never heard the term, cobra redline... But a few sp. are indeed named as such. But not technically ofcorse.
