I dont know if anyone is familiar with corn snake x milk snake hybrids but i used to do that while ago. The theory behind it is that your first batch (F1) are nothing special at all but when you mate 2 siblings of your F1 generation thats when you consentrate your genes and start having good looking snakes. i was wondering if this would apply to cichlids as long as there is a close enough relationship so not to produce sterile offspring. Also would all south amarican cichlids be able to interbreed and have fertile offspring?

Maybe.... Also would all south amarican cichlids be able to interbreed and have fertile offspring? No, not all can interbreed....For instance, Oscars can not breed with XinguI's...lol
