Ive notecing both my igs have some kind of spasm  They kind of jump when it happens, like something botered them. Has anybody experienced it? Im real puzzled. Yesterday I asked my vet about it and he´s to puzzled. We both agree my igs are really healty(in fact he says my female ig is the biggest and most beautifull one he´s ever seen on its years of practise:headbang2:D) but yet this thing happens. Could it be lack of magnesium or something? I feed them daily with the variety of greens I often sugest here for others to give to their owns, along side hibiscus and several weeds. Less often I also give them fruit, carrots, etc. From time to time I also give them a lilte reptivite or a lilte zoomeds ig food(aparently it has been reformuled, they leaved the fish meal out and several others and replaced it with healtier choices). They have uv ligth daily(the bulds are recent), 2 heat bulbs and one heat pad each. I also moist them every other day. Any thoughs:confused:

The first thing id think of is early stages of MBD-calcium defiency, but it sounds like your giving the correct diet? An x-ray at the vets would determine if theres enough calcium in their bodies.

What is there age? And explain the bolting a bit more.
The female is a 5 year old 105 cm long and the male is 2 year old 85cm long. The thing is a spasm kind of thing, it takes less then a second to happen, you see the animal all relaxed and all of a sudden you hear the tail against the enclusere walls and the animal up again. And they kind of "jump" when it happens:confused: Sometimes it happens a few times in a day, others it doesant. And only when their awake. I have the felling it is more frequent after handling and after they awake and start moving. Could it be its simply because they same as we, can have "stuck ligments" or something? Does it happen in other animals? I think I remenbar seeing this in the other igs I had before:confused: Im I missing something?

I also have though of that countless times but simply doesant make sence:confused: The past year my female was x-rayed more often then the number of fingers in one hand because she became gravid, and so to monitorized the eggs and she had a perfectly formed esquleton and later developed nice and thick egg shells. She also had blood work done on her and she allways was well above the lower levels. I forgot to mencion but she in the spring and summer caches sun as often as Im able to keep a eye on her. It also doesant explay why the male also has it. Im so confused that I even though it was because I give them a 100% vegetable diet and never gave them bugs and other animal food:confused:

I think its fine really, I know what youre talking about now and my monitors do it too, i dont think its a spasm but more of a inhalation gasp.

I still think its bit diferent from what your saying:confused: It really looks more like a spasm, it goes all over the igs body. Have you seen anything like it on your Cyclura? Lets also wait for Mike to arrive. But thanks for your interest and help anyways:D

sorry guys havent been on much lately. works busy and i cant get on the site while at work.

It sounds fine to me. it sounds more like a muscle spasm to me. or maybe a jerk to maybe stay awake, ever been sitting down and kinda day dreaming and you snap back real quick? its probably something along those lines. mines always doing something crazy and making some sort of movement haha. as long as there food intake hasnt dropped and they seem active i wouldnt really worry about.

as far as it being MBD i wouldnt really worry about that. if xrays were taken fairly recently and the calcium and vitamins have been added its a real slim chance that you will have MBD.
