Has anyone ever kept violet gobies (dragon gobies...) because I am interested in getting one and I would like some advise first. I know it lives in brackish water but I am a little confused if it will eat smaller fish (some sites say it will and some say it won't). Please help! Thanx :) I am new at fish keeping (First year) all advice is appreciated.:)

I'll be the first to say, use the search function first. As to your questions.
Yes brackish as they get bigger.
Not really aggressive so care with tankmates.
Huge mouth but tiny throat. At smaller sizes brine shrimp and bloodworms work well. At larger sizes mine eats small pieces of shrimp and fish. some have had success with pelets and algae.

Mine loves to eat algae discs. He kind of just holds it in his mouth until it dissolves. A nocturnal, slow moving species so don't be expecting to see him out and about a lot. My guy, Draco, prefers to chill in his pvc pipe turned cave and only pokes his head out in the evening during feeding time. And on that note they are nearly blind and are oppurtunistic feeders. Draco will not come to get the food you have to bring the food to him. His food literally has to be dropped right in front of his snout to get him to eat otherwise his tankmates get to it first. Most of these guys die in captivity from starvation. A species definitely worth researching before buying and like dragonfish said use the search tab. I know there are quite a few posts on here about dragon goby care. Good Luck.
