I have a 180g acrylic that is starting to get shelling in the center of the top seam in the front section and it's growing... I have marked it with a sharpie and it's now extended past that mark of both ends. I'm not sure how old the tank is but it's 72"x 24"x 24" x 1/2" acrylic made by Clarity plus.

What would cause this? Not enough support in the middle of the tank or not enough at the ends of the tank?

Thanks in Advance.

looks to me like the welds are pulling apart. If I were you, I'd drain that tank and do a weld on #40 pour in the seams.

Well...it could be anything really...the tank could be slightly uneven on the stand, the top bracing may not be adequate for the size/height (I don't think its that, you have the same build I do -1foot width), the weld may not have been done adequately when the tank was assembled and now with time its starting to slip, those would be my 3 guesses right off the bat. do you have 3 braces across the top?

1 foot width? This is 6ft x 2ft x 2ft... lol sorry if I misunderstood that.

Anywho. yes it has 2 big rectangular openings at the top and there's a good 8"+ between them and the edge of the tank.

If anyone knows of good company that I could get a consolation on this from I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you in advance!
