I have a 10 gallon tank and i was wondering if i could fill it up with water from my other tank and add a filter with media that is from an other tank and would the setup be okay to put fish in immediately cuz i need the tank to be ready asap. would it have a mini cycle?

Dont use the water from the existing tank. Just match the temp and use a good dechlorinator. Then use the filter media and it should be good to go. a tank that small is rather unstable so keep an eye on the water parameters.

All you need is filter media actually. The old water in essence just does nothing. Most of the bacterial colonies harbor the hard surfaces rather than the water column itself.

thanx! So what if i want to move the fish from the 10 gallon to my larger tank once it grow big enough? so if i want this then should i just add 5 gallons of water from the other tank and 5 gallons of water from the sink dechlorinated? What do u mean by unstable? Cuz its going to have media already with bacteria.
