My buddy and I have been going back and forth about his and I want your thoughts.

Okay if you have a 200 gallon tank that is used would you say is worth a 1 a gallon because it's used?? Or if you have a 175 gallon bowfront would you again say its worth the dollar a gallon ??? I say if it is over 75 gallons it throws the 1 a gallon out the window even tho it is used it is still worth more then a dollar a gallon. What are you thoughts on this

I agree. Though id say anything over 55g is no longer $1/g

He is saying that a used 300 gallon isn't worth more then 500 which I think it is worth at least 700 and he is also saying people on MFK would say the 1 a gallon goes out the window because it is used which I disagree with what do you guys on here think

It depends on your location and the quality of the tank, type (drilled vs non, acrylic vs glass) or other equipment. $1 a gallon is just a guideline, and doesn't account for location.

A plain 300g glass tank with no equipment is certainly too expensive at $700 to me, since new it isn't much more. A plain used tank drops significantly below retail value in most locations.
$500 is more than I'd pay where I'm at, but I could see it being a decent deal somewhere else.

In SoCal, tanks of all kinds come cheap used, generally with equipment, and I'd consider either of the above a rip off considering what my friends pick up used tanks for and what they're listed for on craigslist.

Well a used, non leaking/cracked and good conditioned 150gal tank here with stand and lids and lights goes from $300-400. I think it depends on the area and where you live. Cheap tanks here are few and far between but deals do come up, most people here overprice there tanks and I would never pay a lot for a used tank. it just depends. Inoticed that $1/gal goes out the window here on anything over 90gal for sure. I know I would like a 220. I also know I would not spend more than $700 for one that came with tank, stand and lids.
