I have a 6inch dovii an was thinking about putting a red devil his size in with him . Had a smaller jack Dempsy in with him but I had to take it out cause it beat him .

Dovii are wimpy until they are about a foot long, then they are terrors. If a jack Dempsey beat yours, chances are a red devil also will. And once the dovii is large, chances are it will kill anything you put with it, unless you are keeping it in a swimming pool-sized tank

It’s a 55 When he was smaller an in a smaller tank he was more aggressive now he seems to be kinda mellow

I wouldn't try anything in a 55 with the dovii. Not enough space for territories. The red devil will probably beat it up, or vice-versa once the dovii puts a few more inches on. Dovii are not fish that you buy to keep with tankmates, to be honest. Hard to get anything to work with them long-term.

What Swami said Dovii are scardy cats when juvi where RD are born killers so the RD will more then likely kill the dovii but after a year the dovii will kill the RD.

But even for a single dovii you need a least a 180 most will say even bigger

A 6" dovii is already too large for a 55gal tank alone.
