This may be a dumb question but could I put a Florida gar in an outside pond with no heater and I live in North Florida. Just wanted to know before I buy one thanks.

L. platyrhincus (the Florida gar) can be found as far north as into Georgia.
How deep is your pond?
The deeper the better, because deeper waters help buffer wildly fluctuating temps.

its only 2ft deep but its 500 gallons

Given that's within their native range, I'd say as long as it's a reasonably deep pond that you'd probably be fine.
