I was on kijiji again today and found a "100 gallon tank" for sale, 100$CAD. So i asked the dimension of the tank and the lady replied saying " It is 21" high, 4 feet across, 12" and a half wide front to back"

So just to make sure i went on http://www.firsttankguide.net/calculator.php and input the numbers, it came up with 56.73 U.S. gallons even when i put 13 inches for the width.

im a little confused if maybe its not the right size, or she gave me wrong dimensions. The picture is there and it does look like a decent sized tank. If anyone can see any mistakes I made or can correct me or have any input on this let me know haha

Its a 55 for sure, how much is she asking? you might want to tell her that..

Maybe she meant half gallon:D

shes asking 100 canadian. so its still not a bad price. but to house my piranhas i dont wanna get lied to about the gallon size lol. Its just the tank and stand alone, nothing else included, so i could still find good deals that include a canister filter too

It's definitely a 55g. It's not worth the price with it being used and the type of stand that comes with it. It won't be much use for your piranhas. It would be better to invest in the bigger tank like you want. Most 100+ gallons are going to be 6 feet long. They will usually be closer to 24" high and the depth will vary from 18-24" deep. I picked up a few tanks listed at 100 gallons off of craigslist which only turned out to be 60 gallons or so... It was still useful for the rest of my zoo though.

this is a great calculator for easy reference that I use almost daily.
