I bought some crawdads from my LFS and one of them molted about a week later. It has a white spot and looks like the carapace didn't grow right, and there are swimmerete looking things coming out the side of the tail.

Is this thing still good food for my Fahaka?

Looks like his gills are on the outside. Do you know where the crays come from--if they are bred in a farm or wild caught? I am very concerned about my fahaka getting a tapeworm after this:

Id toss it bro.. just buy another

It's in a 30gallon with 4 others. I was going to start breeding my own so that I could control... things like this. Should I get rid of the others too? I am leaning toward isolation of this funky guy, and letting the others go about business.

I don't plan on feeding anything in that tank to my puffer for at least 2 months now that I looked at PufferPunk's link. That is scary.

 OMG PufferPunk, that was one of the grossest threads I've ever read!

looks weird as hell and makes me feel a bit sick, but i'd let him molt at least one more time before exterminating him
like pufferpunk said, his gills are on the outside
he got it from a "molting error", so it could vanish with the next molting i guess
give him a seperate tank till then, though...just in case it could be contageous, who knows

ps: if he dies, please dissect him and find out if the gills are growing ON the carapace or if there is a hole in the carapace and the gills are poking through...i'm dying to know

I'd just feed it to your puffer & be done with it.
