I always do water changes by adding tap water straight into the tank before adding dechlorinator.. Will the tap water kill the BB in the tank?
I've been following this practice for 2 years now with no problems but if someone can help clarify, it will ease my doubt.. Thanks.

If it`s not broke-don`t fix it.
Seems your method is working.
Same way I do mine.

True, but I add my dechlorinator, then fill..........

I add while it's filling. But no it will not kill it that fast, I do it while filling so it get mixed around real good.

I have always waited to add the dechlor until the water was filled up most of the way with never any problems.

You could probably soak your tank in tap water and it would be fine for a few hours. The fish probably not. The chlorine in tap water is very ineffective on organic debris, which is what your filter is loaded with. I have rinsed my filters in tap water and never had a problem with it. For my top-offs when I add a gallon or two of water into my 29g tank I don't even use dechlorinator.

I had wondered about this myself. I always add it before the water goes into the tank, religiously, but wouldn't mind doing it after. I don't use a hose, it's bucket by bucket, so adding after just makes it quicker than measuring out all the buckets with dechlorinator as I go.
