I was wondering what dimensions of large sized tank (say anything 200+ gallons) would be the most cost effective for me to DIY while maintaining a good safety factor? Obviously this will depend on the price one can buy their glass for. For instance 48" x 48" x 24" = 240 US gallons and can be made from 1/2" glass very safely. I think we can all agree that height is by far the LEAST cost effective dimension. If I had to guess, I would assume the most cost effective ($/gallon) dimension would be square as well, but I could be wrong.

Anyone have any input?
