I'm just wondering but where do you friggin but arapaimas?? thwey are endangered and U need a permit a buy once but after that, where do u go to buy one?? how much do they cost? This is just out of curiousity for my future debate of getting one.

I've heard talk of this permit business but I don't know much about it.Arapaimas might be in trouble in their native waters but they are successfuly bred in Asia and the captive bred offspring are most likely the ones that are sold in the hobby.The cheapest I have seen them being sold for is one hundred dollars for a six incher.
thats true, they can breed them in Thailand, Malaysia and maybe Indonesia. And they are around 50-60 dollars for a 5-6 inches in those countries!krichardson;5083152; said:

I went fishing there and stayed a night in manaus, they catch those things by the cement truck full. They even sell the scales as antiques, those are some big ass scales
You can definitely find them online from reputable live fish dealers/stores in the US. There's an 'asian tropical fish' store that has one by my house. It's about 2 foot long and beautiful!
