Hello, I'm new to this forum. I have some questions about Jack Dempsey cichlids though!
I know a little about cichlids already, but I am recently just getting into the hobby.
I have a 110 gallon cichlid community tank(2 Gouramis, 1 Green Severum, 1 Salvini, 1 EBJD, 1 Rainbow cichlid - all of them are still young), two 20 gallon tanks containing frogs, and a 50 gallon with black moors, a pearlscale and one gourami who was bullied in the big tank(doing well with the goldfish though).
Here are my questions~
1. How do you know a BGJD is actually a BGJD?
- is there anyway to tell? or do you just take the sellers word for it?
2. If I want to pair my EBJD with a BGJD when would be a good age(size) to try to get a pair?
-When do they reach sexual maturity? Will they pair up before the reach sexual maturity?
3. In a 55 Gallon tank can a pair live happily if alone in the tank?
- if not, then at what size should they be put into a larger tank?
4. Do two BGJD bred together make EBJD?
-what is the percentage that will be EBJD? (if there usually is a good guess)
5. At what age can you begin to sex JD/BGJD? (if you can at all)
