just wandering how big does a black wolf (hoplias curupira) can really grow these days in captivity? I know that some web mentioned they could max out at around 30" in the wild.
But I just wanna know if anyone ever seen one around that size in a home tank??
Also do they get any bigger than hoplias malabaricus?
cheers

It's like asking how long is a piece of string; as it currently stands, we don't know for sure. There are a few reported instances of captive Curupira over 2ft (which I would guess, have been removed from the wild at that size rather than grown in captivity) but none on here that I'm aware of.

As for Curupira bigger than a Malabaricus... I would say so but that's only because i'm not aware of a Malabaricus bigger than 14" in captivity, so someone else may be better placed to answer. It's possible there are some big Malabaricus out there..!

thanks for the input, I am getting a black wolf soon and I certainly hope that it will grow over 50 cm in captivity.
