Alright later this week I'm thinking of going in and purchasing 2 ornatesand i wanted to know what the perfect diet for growing babies would be. What would be a great pellet to get them on as early as possible? Of course I'd also be supllementing their diet with bloodworms and sliced squid and the things that were mentioned in the Primer. What time woudl I switch over to feeding them massivore and all that stuff for maximum growth? Kind of a lot of questions but just wanna do it write :D Thanks everyone

at small size too like 6" i fed blackworms then 6"+ i feed mealworm, pellets,MP,nightcrawlers as it grew bigger i got it bigger sized pellets

now blackworms are just like bloodworms right? Do they prefer live or are the frozen kind just as easily accepted?

Also what would you suggest in pellets, I was looking around and comparing different brands but theres just a million of them so I ended up just giving myself a headache :/

i say just use massivore or sinking carnivores but IMO i just use sinking gold med since its alot cheaper and my fish love it :)

Sliced beef heart and tilapia are good, slice them in relation to the size of the fish. I like to give the fish longer thinner slices. eg 5" fish would get 3/4" strip. 20" fish gets 3" strip.

Good luck and be sure to throw some pics in the lounge

I use sinking carnivore for baby polys, it has a picture of an rtc on the bag. I also throw in bloodworms sometimes.

Sinking cichlid gold does not have the same protein content as carnivore/massivore so it is cheaper. Also if you look at the ingredients list on the carnivore pellets the first and second ingredients are fish meal and krill meal, not so with the gold. Because of this if you were looking for accelerated growth I would go with carnivore when smaller and massivore when larger. Mine also enjoy blackworms and squid (he is actually the only one of my bichirs to eat squid).
