hello all, im a newbie to this forum but have had aquariums for the better part of the last fifteen years. just wanted to hear some feedback on the setup i have on my 75 gallon. im thinking that i might want to add a emperor 400 hangon filter.
this is what i have currently: two penguin 1140 powerheads with sponge filters on each. one fluval 3plus internal filter. wet/dry overflow sump filter rated for a 75gallon tank. my water is nice and clear now im just wondering if this is a good setup that will last for a couple of years with minimal maintenance

What are you stocking the tank with? Adding the emp400 is probably not needed, although having the extra filter established can be a good idea if your other filter were to quit running. It would also be nice to have if your were going to start another tank.

right now i have 1-8inch tiger oscar, 2-6inch red oscars, 3-green terrors about 3 to five inches, and one convict, two plecos and one mean ass upside down catfish. i know that most of these fish will outgrow this tank but im planning on getting a 200+ gallon tank within the next year. my plans are to ad two texas cichlids(which are growing out in my twenty gallon)eventually when they get big enough to go in the 75. and add a silver arowana when it gets big enough(a buddy and myself got some aro's, but they are in his grow out tank for now)

whats up sin01bst I am from lawrenceburg Indiana just a bit from you, i would def. add the emp. 400 if you already own it i would not add anything else the texas or and arowana until you get the 200+ tank the oscars themselves pretty much fill the tank up itself but i would add it like everyone else is saying and you could add it to your 200+ tank when you get it to get the ball rolling it will not hurt anything!

Wow that's pretty heavy syocking for that 75g, personally I would go with an Aquaclear 110, you've got alot of bio on your tank currently and could probably use the extra mechanical that the AC110 will offer.
