Ok guys and gals, i have been thinking about doing this little DIY for a while.
i actually posted some drawings of my ideas a while back in the DIY section.(if i can fine that old post i will edit this for the link so everyone can see what im looking at doing)
EDIT http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=242503
i have posted this in the stingray section as it pertains to my fw ray system.

i am going to be adding a planted fuge into my system, its not all that big at 20gal, and no i dont expect it to do wonders its more or less just something to try, and it keeps me busy too :)
i have had planted tanks before with good results, but this is quite different and i have a few questions...

in the past i have used specific substrates for planted tanks, im not sure wether or not that these are necessary or if they do anything at all but i have used them before and seemed to have good luck.
granted, my planted tanks never had much more than neon tetras and some barbs, i did do quite well with them.

does anyone know if these substrates are ray safe ?
and has anyone tryed this before ?

the two substrates that i am looking are as followed, aswell i have added the product websites with the mineralogical breakdowns.

SeaChem Flourite http://www.seachem.com/Products/product_pages/Flourite.html
CaribSea Eco Complete(Planted)http://www.caribsea.com/pages/products/planted_aquar.html

i am not by any meens set on useing these types of substrate in the fuge, i just wanted to get some opinions from the ray community on this matter

Thanx. Ronin.

the substrates are in a seperate tank.... they are fine...

well i was only worried about the mineral content of the substrate.
i dont want to add anything to the tank that might leech out and harm the ray

well then just use a regular gravel or sand ;)
