Are you referring to a needlenose "gar" (Xenentodon cancila) or a longnose gar (Lepisosteus osseus) which are sometimes referred to as "needlenose gars"?

If it's the former, then try posting a thread in the "Other Monster Fish" forum because those particular fishes are not true gars. If it's the latter, then check out the stickies in this sub-forum; there's a whole care guide on that species of gar in the one sticky.
