Hey everyone,

I’m looking to get some reddish garnet sand to make my laps colors pop more. Rn I have some relatively fine gravel topping my aquarium. If I add garnet sand over it, will it sink down over time? Additionally, is there as such thing as coarse gravel like garnet sand? Finally, any gravel that may be coarse to cap the gravel while also having reddish/ brown qualities. Thanks! The gravel i have rn is “caribsea peace river gravel” I love the size but it’s just too light in color to make my fish pop. Also removing the existing gravel is not an option. The tank is heavily planted and I’d like to keep the plants and just cap the current substrate. Any idea is appreciated. Thanks!!

I’ve attached a pic of the gravel.

For reference the gravel is around the size of a medium sized hikari ciclid pellet or fluval stratum planted tank substrate. Maybe that will help? Lol

The only reason why I’m not sure is since garnet sand is heavier and more dense than regular pool filter sand. Thanks for the input nonetheless!
