So I've come across some cheap K1 that I might purchase. 3 cubic feet for $75, used in a pond set up. Planning the sump to be a 75g tank for a 300g display tank. Was planning on doing filter socks with a trickle filter with probably pot scrubbies if I can't find cheap bioballs. Now thinking of switching it up to K1.

I'm trying to figure out how much K1 would be appropriate for my tank? Will be moderately stocked with Malawi peacocks and haps. Is there a formula for pounds of fish per gallon of water per gallon of K1 or something? That should help determine how big of a compartment I'll need in the sump.

I've seen Joey's vid (several times) but it doesn't cover air info in detail.

How do I determine how much air I'll need to properly keep the K1 in suspension? I came across a thread saying the pump Joey used was $200? My trickle system would not have this expense at all.

I also can't find details on how the air needs to be placed in the compartment? Vid's seem to show air somehow being pushed through PVC pipe with holes drilled into it. I came across an old thread where Joey ended up using a "T" formation for air?

Thanks in advance.
