Questions about making a 20G planted tank

Ok, I have a empty 20G right now and I want to turn it into a planted tank, so what do i need to do?

I have it by a window right now so I figure this will be planty of light for it but I have PF sand as substrate.

Also, what kind of fish would do good in there?

Howdy,

I'd start with reading the stickies in this forum. In short: You need substrate ferts, liquid ferts, and adequate lights. It helps to minimize aeration. For fish compatibility I refer you to our sister site www.aquariacentral.com. They are specialized in smaller tanks. This here is /\/\onsterfishkeepers Again in short: Any tetra (except congo) and livebearers will do well.

but i decided to take down the 20 G and use it as a sump
