Fish Island
hrmmm well i finally got a mbu after waiting 6 long months.
and just wondering are they active fish like continously swimming. cuz i had it for 2 days and it just kicks it in a corner.
and just wondering if u guys have any pics of urs.
im interested in checking them out. my cameras not connecting to my laptop right now so i cant share mines but its only about 2 inches but doin good in my community tank with dats loaches and pbass. :)

they're not overly active. new fish will just sit there until food comes along (or something that attracts their big eyes lol). they'll also kickback and relax after a big meal... so don't worry.

I have had at least 4-5 mbus but only have pictures of one:

I believe this came from Wes (RARE FISH).

They can be a little shy when first settling in. Once settled I think they are fairly active, always pleased to see the person who feeds them or checking out this and that, watching TV from the tank etc.

wow both mbus look nice especially the big one. mines still being a lil b*tch its been the 3rd day and still shy. but hrmm i guess ill wait. but hey u think i coudl throw in a crayfish bigger then it and will it still eat it?

Young mbus (and most other fish's young) have a higher degree of the survival instinct than large adults have. Little guys are food for more predators than adults are. As the fish grows, it'll gain more confidence and be more active. Give the little guy some time to adjust to his new environment. And, don't 'force' him to be more active, with sticks and/or net handles, as I've seen other do. The fish will only percieve that kind of prodding as attacks and become increasingly reclusive.

Spoken like a true scientist :)

hahahahah that sounded like a lecture from me teacher. but it was good advice. of course i dont poke it but im still hping for it to atleast swim around. mines just been in a corner for most of the day. but ya about the crayfish? hahah i actually wanna see my mbu rip it apart but just wondering if it coudl be as big or bigger?

i think little MBUS look better than the juvie fahakas, as the pattern and colouring is better from an early age. but i like MBUs more than fahakas in general...
