I've had the BGJD's(they are paired up) together for about 1 1/2 months now. They are pretty skittish and love to hide in their clay pots. They are fed NLS as a staple and are supplemented with earthworms/bloodworms 1-2x a week. They have yet to spawn. Could this be because they need a more varied diet? Is it because they are too scared/skittish? They display to each other and both of their breeding tubes are visible but not completely out. Is there anything I can do to help them feel more comfortable? The tank they are in is a 55 gallon with a small albino bushy nose pleco and a male convict who does not bother them. It does not have a background although the tank is against a wall on the back and side. All of my fish live in my bedroom so it is not a high traffic area.

Now on to the convicts-I have 2 pairs that are not yet proven. I've noticed that the male in one of the pairs has started to grow a nuchal hump. Does this mean he is getting closer to spawning with the female? Her breeding tube is out but his is barely visible.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully I'll get some good information!

Ime with cons it was as simply as getting a male and female, putting them in a tank with clean water, some food, moderate filtration and done. I could literally not stop them from breeding lol. These guys are like the rats of the fish world quite frankly :jaw:

Mine spawned at about 3" and proved excellent parents every time.

Looks like my waiting has paid off so far!

Now I just need to get the BGJDs to do the same :) Does anyone have any advice for me regarding the BGJD in my original post? Thanks!
