i have a question.
why is it that salt water puffers could live together in a tank.
but freshwater puffers cant live together?
whats the difference. i want a comm with more then one puffer!!!!
but anyways anyone have a freshwater tank or brakish with multiple puffers. not counting the green spotted or dwarfs.
but like multiple mbus or indian topaz or those unknown species that wes is selling?

There was someone online that was breeding Fahakas in a... 265 I think. For these fish I think you just have to have luck of fish, and a big tank.

tagifugu puffers are real nice looking orange circles on there back and u can have them together and there still hostile toward food or fish dropped in the tank. there suppose to be a brackish puffer but i got my 2 from a wholesaler who raised them in freshwater and ive had them for a couple months and there doing great. here is a couple pics, not the best of pics but gives u a idea

It really depends on your puffers demeanor. I've had an mbu that i've had with plenty of puffers and schools of rasboras that he did not touch, but sad to say that he died. Right now I have two mbu's, one in a hundred gallon and the other in a 180. The one in the 180 will not touch other fish, but the other one will attack only puffers and nip on a plecos tail. I wanted to keep them together, but I could not.
Try looking into avocado puffers. They are really fast and more oval shaped than round. Really cool guys. I'm thinking about getting some. I believe they will nip on each other, as all puffers, but not kill each other. And if you do get these guys, get three or more!

hrmmm avocado puffers? never heard of those. well i actually have a mbu in my community tank righ tnow and its doin great. but i was wondering if i coudl toss in couple more mbus and couple of indian topaz puffers. since i heard those are both peaceful puffers. but the avocados?i gohta check those out.

Avocado puffers (A. modestus) are considered one of the most aggressive FW puffers.

If you want FW puffers you can mix, go for Dwarf puffers, irrubesco, or south american puffers. I've mixed them in the past with no problems.

Here, Here!

Actually, if you buy them as juvies, they can grow up sucessfully together. I tried adding 2 more to an adult modestus & they were both dead overnight. I feel really sorry for those 2 mbus listed above. 100g & 180g??? I also wouldn't even consider keeping 2 fahakas together. Even the experts aren't sure how they breed in the wild without killing each other!
