Alright so after asking some people on here they suggested that i get my 75 gal off the floor and put it on a stand. Originally i wanted my 75 gal on the floor because it looked good and it wasn't in a walking area so i the fish didn't get spooked. Now after people telling me that the tank being right on the carpet can cause mold under it and it would just look better on a stand. Ive decided to use black painted cinder blocks and wood for a cheap stand.

Now my questions are.

1.I currently have a wolf fish and tiger oscar in the 75 gal, so if i take out the water can i keep those two fish in a plastic storage container while i drain the tank and move it? If so how long can they be in the plastic/rubber storage tub?

2. I will need to remove most of the water to be able to pick the tank up, can i save the water in more plastic storage tubs, or will i have to add all new water and let my tank cycle again?

3. Is it possible for me to have my wolf and Oscar back in the 75 gal that night once it has been raised up to the stand?

Thanks for any of the help:), This is sort of a big project for me so i just want my fish to make it through the move from the ground to the stand.

You are on the right track,

The fish will be fine in the tub for the length of time it should take you to do the move, fill the tub with tank water.

I would try and save 25-50% of the tank water to put back in (makes it just like a water change)-Make sure you use declor.

Fish can back in the tank when it is on the stand-Should take no more than a couple of hours, just be ready with the stand.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
