is it true that large silver arowana's are doomed to have DE (drop eye) eventually? I have a 16" silver aro with one eye DE and the other isn't but with time will the good eye get DE? does DE worsen with age? and in your opinion do you think silver arowana with DE look better or more natural than ones that don't have it? When I was a kid I use to see Chinese restaurants with big tanks and arowana's that always had DE so it almost seems strange to see one without DE.

one of the many reasons why i dont take care of silvers. its just those nasty looking DE cases. maybe its in there genes.

I do think that it is genetic. I have noticed that wild collected silvers are less likely to develope DE. Maybe being captive bred has something to do with it? I have 2 silvers. My big silver(20"+) has DE in one eye, and my smaller silver (14") is starting to develope DE in one eye. It's kinda par for the course when you raise silvers :(.
