Questions about sump

Hi. I was thanking of adding a sump to my overstocked 75g all male peacock hap tank.
I was wondering if anyone on here has a sump on there tank. I was thinking of using a 5 gallon bucket just having a hose draining into it and a rio2500 pumping back up pumps 782 gph

I personally would use the bucket as the filter, and place in a Rubbermaid tote for your sump. Google DIY Bucket filter.

But the sump is agood idea for my overstocked tank. And what do u put in your tank. I don't have a lot of room for a tote or anything

I built a tower wet/dry filter out a a three drawer storage unit, placed tower unit on top of plastic milk crate, and placed in a Rubbermaid 20 gallon tote. You should still Google diy bucket sump, filter to give you more options.

I honestly don't know anything about the Rio 2500, but if strong enough to return water to tank from bucket without to much turbulence you should be fine.
