Questions about this juvie Synspilum

I picked up this 1.5" Synspilum(?) yesterday from my LFS and today I noticed what looks similar to HITH where his nostrils would be. This guy/girl acts normal and eats like a pig so I'm not sure what the heck it is. Should I be concerned? Is it something that it will outgrow? Hope you can see what I'm talking about in these pics. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Good diet and clean water should reverse things, at least that is my experience. I picked up this 1.5" Geophagus brasiliensis that looked like this when I got him. Five months later he's 4" and looking much better.

He looks great fug! That's exactly what I'm hoping for. He's sucking down Hikari Excel and NLS like its going out of style. Thanks for the input.
