Ok, I have a few questions regarding tire track eels. Firstly, how large do they get? I have heard everything from 18"-36". Secondly, do they have a personality? I know fire eels have a great personality. Thirdly, do you think a 4x2x2 (120 gallon) tank could hold him? Thanks for any info or suggestions you have!

Tire tracks grow about 36 inches. They are more outgoing than peacock eels. They are very good at escaping though.
there are 2 different tire tracks... favrus, and Armatus... the latter gets as large or larger then fire eels. the first gets 24" if your lucky. ime they have similar personalities as fires except are a more aggressive tank mate, they readily eat smaller fish.
so a favrus or patterned belly tt would ge fine in a 120 but Armatus will need larger in 2 yrs or so.

Awesome! Do have any clue which ones (favrus or Armatus) are more commonly sold? My LFS just says Tire Track Eel. Some seem very dark in coloration, but are only about 3 inches long. I couldn't really tell if they had a pattern on belly or not.
I would ask for the scientific name. I like scientific names because they give you an idea of what you are keeping. Even if it is hard to pronounce.
i would also look at pics on the sticky or with google to get a better idea of how they look. ive also seen zigzags IDd as TTs .. ime the smaller the tt the more likely it is to be a favrus, but armatus are alot less " tire track" looking ime when younger, their patterneing is pretty dulled. Favrus have a nice pattern from the start. otherwise if theyll let you snap a picture and someone can likely ID it for you.
I have a tt and yes they have a good personality had mine for over a yr and it's only about 6-7 in so their growth rate is not a problem. I have it in with a lima and clown knife and they get along fine.

6-7 inches in a year is a stunted fish of either species my fav got 6+ in less then 2 monthes i owned it before he jumped out, and my armatus was less then 1yr old when i sold it at 16"
