I set my 125g tank up about 10 days ago. Things have gotten alot more technical since I did this when I was a kid.

So I have some water quality issues. My sump is basically a plastic container with bio-balls and scubbies the bottom is covered in lava rock. And the previous owner had a block of something that sort of looks like stryrofoam in it. It holds water. So threw it in also. I am building another sump and am incorporating a K1 bio-reactor chamber in it also.
But for the next week or two I will have to stick with this. There is also a filter sock on the overflow pipe.

So my test shows ammonia so I added Ammo lock. My test kit says it will still measure the ammonia with the ammo lock. So should I do some water changes? Some of my fish seem a little stressed. I added Stability also the last couple days.

So should I be doing water changes already? What else can I do to improve the quality of the water?

Can I improve this sump while I work on the other? Just looking for some advise. Thanks for you help.

you will get spikes all over the place your filter needs to mature rather then put ammo blok in the tank, ammo blok just block,s the ammonia not removes it it seems like there is some thing that you put in there that has done that leave it for 2 weeks and see you need good bio filtration to remove it asmall water change will help

It seems to be getting better. I did a 30 percent water change Saturday. And I plan on doing another today. They seem to be getting better. I am going to check the Ammonia in a few minutes.
