There seems to be little info out there regarding the proper care of C. sp Hoa Creek so I was hoping that some of the members here could share their experiences with this cray. I haven't purchased them yet, but I do have the opportunity. I had read where some owners stated they are quite shy, and hide most of the time. Have other members experienced the same thing?

Also, any info on the correct diet, water parameters such as temp, etc. (I'm not a newbie to crays, just this species),

The tank is a 54 gallon, with a 36x18 inch footprint, and I was thinking 2 males, and 2 females.

Any input at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Neil

I've been interested in the Hoa Creek and Blue Moon varieties as well. From the little info I've found, their care is similar to Australian Yabbies.

I'll probably jump on an auction for one or both eventually.

If anyone does have some detailed care info on them, I'm interested as well. :)

When I had my hoa creek pair they were really shy. I never saw them much. When I did they were great looking crays.

Hrm, been a while but when I was keeping and breeding them... they preferred warmer waters, more vegetative (vs. protein) heavy foods, were more reclusive than other speices, less aggressive (small groups were possible in keeping), and didn't do too much damage to the tank (fish wise, they'd mow certain plants down though).
