i have a few question about setting up my first saltwater tank,answers are greatly apprecatied.
1. is it okay to use a regular canistar filter (not the hob type)
what kind of media whould i need?
2.what is the pourpose of overflows?
3.is it a could idea to use a wave makere in a fish and inverterbrate tank?
4.is a 50 gallon tank good for starters?

1. you could get away without any media at all
2. its for a sump, so that water overflows from the tank and travels down into the sump
3. yes
4. If it is the biggest you can go than yes, if you can get a sump and overflow and such that would be ever better. Use live rock for your filtration.
