I and I'm sure many others appreciate moderators and what they contribute, I can't be the only one with questions about them. I listed some questions I have below for any mod willing to respond.

1) How is it determined when a person becomes a mod? Invite, application, post count, make Neo a sandwich or....?

2) What kind of responsibilities do you have?

3) Are mods required to watch or monitor a certain number of subforums?

4) How much time do you estimate you spend on the site each day?

5) What is your favorite subforum? (I won't tell, it's cool)

6) What is you least favorite "smilie"?

7) Who do you think would win in a fight, Chuck Norris or Gary Busey?

i am interested to see the answers to this so bump for a cool thread!

I'm going to add another question, because I am new to MFK, who is like the top of MFK? Like the bloke in charge?

I would think that would be Neo. He's the master of MFK. We all shall bow down to Matser Neo.lol

"Neoprodigy" He is the man behind the Monster Aquaria Network both MFK and AC. He even has a sandwhich waiting for him if he responds!

1) How is it determined when a person becomes a mod? Invite, application, post count, make Neo a sandwich or....?

The staff decides who has the capabilities to be a moderator and this is only when we really need additional staff members. This includes activity level partake in the forum (not post counts), contributions to the site (not in monetary value), personality and ability to handle situations especially where your persona is involved. If you cannot act levelheaded and be impartial in situations, then your credibility and capability is put in question. Overall, it takes maturity to be part of the staff.

2) What kind of responsibilities do you have?

My own responsibilities involve helping people who are in need, moderating threads to correct sections, enforcing the Terms of Service and help with staff decisions that will influence the forum as a whole. No staff member is being forced to carry out the duties unlike most other forums. The members are invited to the staff team as they dedicate part of their time for the site. This is not all about power trips that some people allege. Moderating is not an easy job contrary to what most people think. It entails responsibility on your part.

3) Are mods required to watch or monitor a certain number of subforums?

Each moderator is assigned to particular sections whether his expertise lies there or not. Even if violations happen in other sections not under his leadership, then the online moderators will continue due process for the violators and alert the assigned moderators of the violations so the violations in question will be handled accordingy.

4) How much time do you estimate you spend on the site each day?

I do about 8-10 hours when I am not busy.;) I'm just a slacker I suppose but I have my officework, studies, hobby and personal commitments done so it may not be 8-10 hours at all. No staff is required a set time duration. We can be online whenever we want as long as time permits. Personal matters are still our main priority.

5) What is your favorite subforum? (I won't tell, it's cool)

General Aquaria Discussion, Freshwater Diseases & Health Issues, Angelfish & Discus, Loaches and Freshwater Invertebrates.

6) What is your least favorite "smilie"?

The screwy smilie when abused as a way to antagonize someone.

7) Who do you think would win in a fight, Chuck Norris or Gary Busey?

No answer.

Nicely answered Lupin! I appreciate your response and your contributions! It must be hard remaining impartial at times... I have always wondered what being a mod was all about and that answered allot. Anything else you think new members should know about moderators?
