Questions for mods about "views"

I am curious about the "viewed" tag of a thread. Does each time a member open a thread it get tagged with another view or is it each time a different member opens a thread? Example - If the same member opens a thread 10 times, is the "viewed" incremented by 10 or by 1 for that member only?

The same question would apply for how many times your personnal page is visited???

Every time someone/anyone opens the thread, it counts as one view. So, if the OP checks his thread repeatedly, he will have a false sense of how many views have actually occurred.

Thanks Pharaoh! Its funny because what got me thinking of this was an impatient OP getting mad over "20 views and not a single reponse" or something to that affect a while back. Good to know, thanks again..

Hmmm. So when all the complainers complain that they have 20 views thay may have 5 or so. Great news to pass on these complainers!!! I don't like complainers.

Sadly one night at work I did a little math over in the DIY forum to see the view/reply ratio because of that exact reason. Why has nobody commented when all these people are viewing it. In actuality My thread has a high View/Reply ratio in respect to Nolapete's 4300 gallon build.

As of the writing of this post....

My 240 build --- 14407 Views, 250 Replys, Ratio 5.76 Views per reply

Another Unnamed project, 141477 Views, 1379 Views, Ratio 102.59 Views per reply.

Dont know why I figured this out other than it is really slow at night where I work.

As far as your personal profile is concerned, only views by other members will count. Guests don't count since they will not have the privilege to have a sneak peek at our profiles unless registered.

We also have to keep our eyes on people like JK47, so we tend to look at his threads every time there's a post.
