Hey, So Im very new to plants. A friend of mine suggested putting the roots of philodendron and/or pothos in my fish tank. So i bought 1 philodendron and 1 pothos from earl may. I broke the roots away from the soil and rinsed the roots with a hose ( also soaked the roots in a bucket for a day). I then potted with rocks in aquatic pots. The pots are in the tank so only the roots are in the water. all leafs are out of the water.

Now in the tank, im thinking hey did I do this right? A little late but better than not, haha.

So I guess, did i do this right?
Also do i need to do anything with the plants, is the nutrients in the tank enough to keep them healthy.
Any other tidbits would be welcome, such as what benefits will the plants provide my tank?

Thanks so much!!

The best result is the root should in the way of water flow in your tank. You can buy some cheap hang in tank filter (10G filter) then remove the pump and you got a stylish holding basket or DIY your own holding basket and just stick pothos roots in there without gravel near your filter output.
Pros: When pothos established in your tank you will have a nature Nitrate consume machine, It works perfect.
Cons: When Pothos established you might have to deal with a jungle pothos roots everywhere in your tank and its might kill your view :)

Yes the way you did it will work too. Type in pothos in the search bar lol there will be endless information. :)
