questions on 270 fix

i just got a brand spankin new , never used 270 for a 350 killer deal huh ! well the catch is that it has a crack in the glass about 3 inches on the bottom left front part of the glass from corner to corner ...... i would show pics but my cam is busted ..... to explain better its just the front piece cracked on the bottom left hand side but just the front , not the bottom not the side the outside "braceing" is still in tacked !
now what i was thinking is ..... get a 6x6 inch 1/2 inch thick piece of glass and get the inside cleaned of all the sylicone so that piece fits in nice and snugg and just sylicone it in!
if anyone has a better idea please let me know!
and for step by step instructions please let me know too!

I am no expert but I would think that although that may prevent it from leaking, the strength of the front pane directly around that crack is compromised..

I would think it would be safer to replace the whole front panel with a new sheet of glass, rather than try and patch it.

270 gallons is a lot of weight and pressure. I would be worried about the crack potentially spreading, perhaps catastrophcally.

the patch may not be safe enough long term..

I agree...my truck windshield came to mind...started as a star in the glass till it went across the whole windshield. 270 gallons of water is a hck of a lot of water to pick up. you should change the glass
