Just a quickie, do ferrets chew on wires/cables? Like are they able to be let free in a room without them chewing things up etc.?

Cheers,
Keith

They have been known to chew on wires and cables, although it varies from ferret to ferret how much they're likely to do it. It is best not to leave them unattended in a room that has any kind of electronics or power supplies in it.

ferrets will chew on anything that looks like it will be a fun toy. Watch out, if you have any keys or shiny valuables laying around, it will most likely swipe those and stash them in its own little hiding spot. (normally under a couch, behind a dresser, in a sock drawer, ect.)

ferrets are not rodents as you know, so they wont chew wood...but they tend to be attracted to things like shoe insoles and other rubbery things for some reason.

I agree, rubber seams to attract them mine do not chew on wires but I have heard of some that do, I think thats why they are banned in NYC. They are thieves, mine likes to steal shoes (especially flip flops) rubber balls/ toys and stuffed animals.

They are especially fond of dirty laundry, underwear, socks, jewelry, keys, tissues (they LOVE accessible garbage cans, the dirty little turds).

Basically anything they can drag off, they will. If you have enough distractions, then they are less likely to chew on cables/wires, but its best not to leave them anywhere they can get to them.

Echoing everybody else...they might, but more out of curiosity so if they have cooler stuff to get into most likely they'll ignore wiring.

Keeping them engaged in acceptable activities and keeping the "no's" to only the really important stuff does help.
Mine's favorites are a 30g box of rice, my son's expandable tunnels/ tents from when he was little and a big paper shopping bag stuffed with a ton of plastic shopping bags.
