questions on jardini's

i know i've heard of jardini's being really aggressive or mean but i have heard of a couple that didn't fit that description. so i was wondering if these fish would turn out to be "nicer" if they were around fish of the same size for their entire life?? as in putting them in a community tank from when they are like 2-3 inches and moving them to other tanks as they get bigger??

in my experience jardinis arent as killers as ppl say its prob b.c i keep my jar with other arowanas and like mix of fish literally overstock

thanks for the quick reply! that's what i was thinking.. i mean ALL of them can't grow up to be a killer right?? im hoping that if they've been in a community their whole life, they can stay that way even when they become adults.

yes not all are killers, out of 5 jars iv keep none got aggressive

i noticed that they were pretty skeptical about your set up but im glad to hear that your experiment worked!! are you keeping all five of them together or in separate tanks?

I've had a few jars, most were ok but 1 killed everything.( pbass, needle nose gars, even the pleco of the same size, he would kill feeders and not even eat them)

didnt keep 5 jars together like different time periods not same time,well i kept 2 together before with other aros no fights

thanks for all the input guys. i think i need more fish in order to achieve what i want.. i don't have enough potentially big fish in order to keep a community going for this guy.. i'd like to try this some time down the road tho!!

temperament is always an individual scenario. while "generally" they are aggressive and not able to have tankmates, this is absolutely not true for every jardini.

i agree with him..it depends on the temperament of the fish..it varies from one fish to the other..you cant really tell...but as a general rule jars are aggressive..not all are as lucky as hao..
