Questions on jewel & zebra in a CA tank

I have a 155g and was given a jewel and a zebra I believe obsli??? something or other they are in a tank and have been with my ca's since july the jewel is acting funny, I have never had a jewel or zebra befor I am assuming from the post they are africans, so they need salt to live?

and the jewel used to show it's flare and red its self up now its gray with lil red in it and it hides in this hole in the tank, none of the other pay it any attention except the zebra and its always putting its mouth by it private area the jewel goes to the side then retreats to its hole, i have no idea whats going on and am concerned for it

the zebra hangs out with my small jag and they are always messing with my mated gt's

any info would be great i took it in from someone who got rid of thier tank for free, i thought i was giving it a good home had no idea it was african I think its depressed

I wouldn't add salt to the tank, it is not a necessity at all. the jewel should b ok with CA cichlids of similar aggression.

well i would not add salt to this tank i would try to find it another home, it does not seem to be happy and its always hiding now and does not really come out

the issue of salt is irrelevant to the fish's unhappiness. I'd look into what is causing it, whether stress or disease

just checking in regards to the salt, It's not disease I think she is just stressed and unhappy, it is the littlest in the tank,
