Ok, so I'm almost certain I'll be getting some pygos for my 4'x4' tank.
already had rbps before so want to get something else.

caribe season is coming so I'm hearting to that but am also very interested in pirayas.

Here are few of my questions.

How many caribes can I keep in that tank for life? (don't think I'll ever be able to upgrade to a larger footprint) I'm thinking about anywhere between 8-12??

How many pirayas can I keep in that tank for life? I'm thinking abot 3-5??

Has any one grow caribe from baby to full grown adult? how long did it tank until their color (red belly and the black humeral spot) starts fade? or if anyone knows??

Thanks in advance.

Hi.

I am not sure about that tank size 4"X4" is it a square?.

So if it is a square, how deep is it?.

yes it's a square tank, exact dimension is 45"x45"x21", believe it came out to be 180g or so.

Here are some old pics when I first had it up and running.

Gee man thats a very nice tank indeed, you heve plenty of water in there, about 153 gal.:naughty:

You van keep in there a pygo shoal of about, let say 10-12 specimens.

I would choose 6 RBS and 6 caribas, they would look terrific...:headbang2, However, and although pirayas are some stunning fish and one of my favorites, I wouldnt keep piraya because at long term i would be ending up juts with a solo Piraya and maybe one or two reds.

As juv. you could keep the piraya sholaled with others but as time passes by you would be forced to get rid of other fish for the piraya had more space, If this detail doesnt bother you, so go ahead and shoal the piraya along with a couple of caribas an one maybe 2 reds or any combination of them.

But remmember such a shoal might work just for some time.

Cheers.

how did you get the 153 gal#?
anyway, I'll most likely do a full caribe shoal, with maybe some additional reds in there just in case they fill like killing something. hopefully the'll turn on to the red and not the caribes.
still no one knows when will caribe's red and black humeral spot starts to fade?

Hi.

Book mark this link:

http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/converter/volume-calculator.php

In is a usefull volume calculator.

And about the humeral spot, it beats me man, but for sure it takes too long when they are old.

By the way i am talking of UK galons. Us galons would be 184.

Cheers.

Oh, that's where you had me off. yea then that's the same I got.

yea US should really get on the metric train as the rest of the world...but I think all the machinist in the country or at least a lot of them will hate you for that conversion as they are so used to working with imperial units.
