Im going to build an indoor pond and I have a few questions about the logistics of water changes and what not. So anyway, the setup is a 1000 gallon pond to 2 PVC overflows to 2 separate wet/dry sumps. Would u just turn the pump off, reposition the outtake to a waste receptical, and turn it back on to do a water change? And when refilling what is the best way to do it? Again my guess is to get water flowing from sink at the right temp, use python to get it to the tank, put dechlorinator in tank prior to starting the refill. If there is anything wrong with my ideas or if those of you who have been doing this longer than me have any better suggestions please share! Much appreciated.

If you're gonna use sink to put water back into the tank with a python, you might as well just use it for water changes? Unless it is above your pond..

sometimes the warm/hot water comming out of your facet sink can contain a higher TDS than the cold water usually because the warmer water goes thru the water heater where heavy metals tend to build up. i duno how big a deal it is but some people worry.

I'm pretty sure it would take many hours to take 200-300 gallons out of my pond using a python. That's why I thought to use the pump, then it would only take a few mins. So do I put the prime in the tank before I add the new water back in? I've always just used buckets and premixed it but 40+ trips with a 5 gallon bucket just wouldn't work.

If it's downhill, it wouldn't take long at all.. I can drain my 110 in 20 minutes..
