Hi, So I'm planning to build a tank (first time) and I'd like to hear from the more experienced guys. The plan is to use 10mm regular glass. With three 5cm wide braces equally spaced

1st) How tall can I go with this footprint? (134*50)cm or 52.8"x19.7" . The plan is to go 55cm high if not 60

2nd) What's the difference between these two methods?

a) The "walls" of the tank all sit on the bottom piece (base)
b) The walls sit beside (adjacent) to the base

Here's an illustration, a bit crude but I hope the point is clear (the one above is a the bottom is b)

3rd) How wide should be the silicone gap? ie how much space between the panels does the silicone need in order to have sufficient strength? I plan on making it ~1mm on each side

4th) Would having beveled edges add any strength? I'm guessing they're more resistant to chipping

finally) This is the datasheet of the sealant I plan on using, Anything I should lookout for?

Any extra tips or +ve input is highly appreciated.

10mm glass you can go 60 high.

Silicone the sidepanels on the sides of the bottompanel.

I prefer ~2mm silicone between the glass.

And for bracing i would go with one piece on each panel lengthwise of the back and front panel then one across centered front to back on top of the lenghtwise glued bracing.

Thanks Tobias.
Is there any advantages between the two methods?
The bracing would form an (H) rotated 90° correct?

By putting the sidepanels against bottom onstead of on top of bottom panel you get more strenght when silicone is stretching due to water pressure.

Yeah exactly like an rotated h. By doing it that way you get the strength in the bracing both lenghtwise and across.
