So I did A LOT of research and talked with the LFS about my 150 gallon before committing to a certain stock of fish for my first ever new world cichlid tank, but would like a 2nd 3rd 4th opinion. Here is the list and they are all juveniles:

1 x Tiger Oscar
1x Orange Necktie Severum
4x Silver Dollars
1x Synodontis Catfish (currently my favorite fish in the tank, this guy is freaking nuts and I love it)
1x Geophagus Anfitrion

Tank Dimensions: 48" x 24" x 30"
Filtration: Fluval FX5, Hydor 950 g/h power head
Heat:2x Fluval 30 watt heaters.

Would 3x yo yo / clown loaches and/or another geoagus anfirion be courting disaster with the bio load? Is what I currently have to much? Just right?

Also, for some reason this thread box is not picking u all my key strokes, sorry for any misspellings.

Thanks in advance! I will post picture the tank setup when get home as well.

What is your water change schedule? That will help determine the addition of any new fish.

You do realize that the catfish is not a New World tank ? Just letting you know in case that was a deal breaker for him in that tank.
The stock sounds great - and the tank has a nice footprint. Honestly? I would stick with a couple of Severums and Geophagus and bypass the Oscar. It SHOULD work fine, but if you end up with a punky Oscar, it could end up badly. (The same goes for the Severums, actually.)

i would do 50% weekly, not 30%. So, you basically will only have one filter? I would up that to two at least.

Also - if you are serious about the "South American" biotope, then get rid of the powerhead. Those fish do not like fast water.

You are perfectly stocked. If u want more fish, add a 2nd canister filter and be good about your cleaning regimen weekly. Power head is fine. Lots of the amazon is fast-moving water, and although I have mine for my leporinus, my sa/ca cichlids are always right in the middle of either the power head or the bubblers! Congrats on the new tank!
