How many plants and structures should I have for 7 1" red bellys in a 55g tank? I'm also switching from gravel to sand hoe deep should the sand be? Also I have 50 1" basic goldfish in the tank will it hurt the piranhas at all if they eat them? Btw they will be upgraded to a 180 gallon tank in the next couple of months!

The red bellys will grow around an inch a month....i would go with 1 inch gravel max.....personally i like .5-.75 of an inch.......dont add any decor.....keep it bare....it will help aggresion by not being able to establish territories also i wouldnt use goldfsh....try quarantined feeder guppies.....the reds will be fine in the 55 for a couple months but try ro upgrade as soon as possible......once they hit around 4 inches they will fight for space in a small 55 gallon
