I believe this is a poly palmas but out of curiosity should I be alarmed if he spends most almost all of his time at the top of the tank

Yes. Another palmas same size 3 inch peacock cichlid and 3 fire mouths relatively small. They all seem to leave each other alone. Plenty of space. Are there other tankmates?
Well he seems to stay at the bottom with the other palmas once the fire mouths notice him. But pops up here and there. I was just making sure it's ok. Thank youIt happens with new fish. Just watch for not able to get down due to trapped air.
Quick question is it normal for them to have a bulge on their left side after a feeding. He ate a pellet or 2 earlier today. But his stomachs a bit bulged should I keep an eye on him or not worry to much he is able to stay at the bottom so I'm not worried about trapped airWhere is the picture
