Hi, does anyone know if boiling water will melt a plastic bucket?
I am going to biol two pieces of wood and then put the wood in my tank later today, i have washed to wood already.
I just want to know if plastic buckets will melt, i am using a big bucket (30L?) because w edont have any big metal pots big enough for the wood to fit inthanks PLZ ASAP! the water is on the boil :grinyes:

If the water is already boiling you might be ok, depending on what kind of plastic he bucket is, but i dont think you can make water boil in a plastic bucket.

depends on the plastic cheap bucket prolly soften up,heavier like the one joint compound comes in would last longer

Too late lol, the water had already boiled and i put it in the bucket already before i found the reply!
Oh yeah the water was already boiling though, and it looks the goods so far haha, bucket is doing fine!
Cheers for the quick reply, do i have to boil twice??!?! because the bucket isnt even half full, after my biggest pot full and a kettle full of water lol!

Yeah the bucket is a heavy one, likethe one which you buy BIG tubs of mayonnaise or Garlic sauce etc in, i like these buckets, so many uses because they come with a lid!
You can use them for quarantine for a bit, like feeders etc, when fishin' to hold your catch....pretty much anything! :woot:

at least you didn't put the bucket full of water on the burner to boil..... x x :screwy:

maybe. Depending on thickness and melting point.
