I just need to know (by bedtime) if this will work. I just have the classic overflow noise problem and i was wondering if this will work or if it will mess up the flow or something. I have thought it through and I can't think of what will go wrong, but that's why the MFK team is here right. Thanks big time in advance.

I just want to put an upside down U in the intake. The picture is pretty explanitory.

Looks like a durso style, might work. Dont glue the joints and test it for an hour or so before you go to sleep.

I you put a cap on fi 1 that would reduce noise. the pic below is how I do it, a screen, and the cap (with a small hole drilled in the middle just balences on the screen.

And daleros may be right, even if you don't have an air gap at 1st, if an air gap did develope you'd end up with water on the floor.

I have the 2nd setup in my overflows. Works great until powerloss. Siphon won't start back up. Fortunately, my tank can hold all my sump without overflowing.
